This is only the beginning – Ronaldo declares as he sets sights on Messi’s record
Cristiano Ronaldo, the former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus striker, has declared that his performance in Al Nassr’s 4-1 league triumph over Al-Feiha on Tuesday is only the beginning.
The football icon urged his teammates to continue their strong start to the league season.
The 39-year-old scored one and assisted another their latest match.
He assisted Talisca’s first goal at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Buraydah within five minutes and then got in the scoresheet himself.
He is one goal away from matching Lionel Messi’s record after scoring his first free-kick of the season in the tenth minute of stoppage time.
It was his 64th free kick for club and country, leaving him only one behind his archrival Messi.
It was also the 899th goal of his great club and country career.
Luis Castro’s team went up 3-0 in the 85th minute thanks to Marcelo Brozovic, and although Al-Feiha drew one back, Talisca scored his second goal of the game in the fifth minute of stoppage time, restoring Al-Alami’s three-goal advantage.
Ronaldo and his teammates are now two points behind surprise leaders Al-Qadisiyah.
Ronaldo reacted on X after Al-Nassr’s win: “This is only the beginning! Let’s go @AlNassrFC!”
